Financial Awards

Students are at the heart of Yukon College and are an integral part of Yukon’s future. Our Financial Awards program can help you reach your educational goals. Yukon College and our generous donors understand the value of an education, so we supply a variety of awards to help you support your educational and living costs.

Awards can be based on academic or personal achievement, or financial need, along with other specialized criteria. All applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.

How to apply

Whether you are applying for one or many awards, you need to fill out the following two documents only once:

  1. Student Financial Award Application
  2. Student Financial Award Application Waiver

Each award has additional application requirements and additional documents you need to submit. For instance, some require a Budget Sheet and some require a letter or essay. Please read the information carefully, and if you have any questions feel free to contact the Student Services Centre at 867.668.8720.

Yukon Chamber of Mines Bursaries: $1,000
Application Deadline: Friday, September 29, 2017

The Yukon Chamber of Mines provide two separate awards of $1,000 to students in need with financial support and are intended to foster interest in geology, trades and/or the life cycle of mining.

The Yukon Chamber of Mines represents a dynamic membership numbering over 400. Since its creation, the Yukon Chamber of Mines has worked to protect and promote the interests of Yukon’s mineral exploration, development and mining industry through clear initiatives and policies which encourage a safe, economically viable, socially and environmentally responsible industry.

PLEASE NOTE: There are two different bursaries

  • The first bursary is available to a student, preferably female, registered in Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining (CNIM) programs.
  • The second bursary is available to a student, preferably female, who is registered in a CNIM program within a Yukon community outside of Whitehorse, with preference for an applicant of Yukon First Nations descent.

To apply, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Reside in the Yukon
  • Be registered full-time in a Yukon College Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining program for at least one semester
  • Demonstrate financial need
