Aron Senkpiel Award: $750
Application Deadline: Wednesday, January 31, 2018

(Usually available as a Fall term award)

Aron Senkpiel, a former dean of Yukon College from 1982 to 1992, was passionate about the North and initiated the Northern Studies program. During his time, the territorial government awarded Yukon College with a one million dollar endowment fund to support northern and Yukon research, largely due to Aron's efforts. Under Aron's leadership, he also oversaw the development of the Renewable Resource Management program, the Bachelor of Social Work program, and Women's Studies. In conjunction with the University of Alaska Southeast, he also worked to introduce the Masters of Education and a Masters of Public Administration.
